PTSD Treatment in Fort Worth, TX: Healing Is Possible — and You Deserve It

What Trauma Does to the Mind and Body

Trauma doesn't live only in memory. It lives in the body — in hypervigilance, in startle responses, in nightmares, in the way certain sounds or smells can instantly transport a person back to the worst moment of their life. Trauma reshapes the nervous system, and healing from it requires more than time.

At Radiant Souls Psychiatry in Fort Worth, our Trauma-Informed Psychiatric Care program provides compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals impacted by PTSD, childhood trauma, grief, abuse, and the full spectrum of difficult life experiences. We serve patients across Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless, Mansfield, Grapevine, and Dallas — in person and through telehealth across Texas.

Understanding PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) develops in some individuals following exposure to traumatic events — including combat, sexual assault, accidents, natural disasters, childhood abuse, domestic violence, or witnessing harm to others. It is characterized by four main symptom clusters:

Intrusion: flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts about the traumatic event

Avoidance: avoiding reminders of the trauma, emotional numbing, detachment

Negative alterations in cognition and mood: persistent negative beliefs, guilt, shame, depression

Hyperarousal: hypervigilance, exaggerated startle response, sleep disturbance, irritability

PTSD affects approximately 7-8% of the general population and is significantly more common among first responders, veterans, survivors of interpersonal violence, and individuals with histories of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Trauma Beyond a Single Event

Not all trauma comes from a single dramatic event. Complex PTSD — sometimes called C-PTSD — develops from prolonged, repeated exposure to trauma, such as chronic childhood abuse, domestic violence, or long-term captivity. The symptoms often include more severe emotional dysregulation, identity difficulties, and relational challenges.

Radiant Souls is experienced in treating both single-event PTSD and complex trauma — providing individualized care that honors the full complexity of each patient's experience.

"Trauma-informed" is not just a buzzword at Radiant Souls — it's a clinical commitment. Trauma-informed care means:
